
Senior Director, Program Management Office
Overview of Role/Job Purpose:
The Senior Director of the Project Management Office will be responsible for overseeing all project management activities, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex software projects to our customer on-time and within budget.
As our Senior Director of the PMO you will lead cross-functional initiatives, provide project oversight and guidance across a wide variety of projects including our Customer Information System, Retail billing solution, and our best in class customer self-service solution.
This role is critical in driving operational excellence, managing complex programs, and fostering collaboration between product, engineering, customer success, and other departments.
Essential Job Duties:
- Identify and plan projects and programs to achieve business objectives and develop project charters
- Develop detailed project plans for complex projects ensuring that all tasks are appropriately scheduled (dependency, dates, resources, effort) and aligned with business objectives
- Identify key stakeholders and manage internal and external expectations
- Manage resources, communicate responsibilities and ensure accountability to completing deliverables
- Drive the execution of high-impact projects and programs
- Ensure consistent documentation, communication, and stakeholder alignment
- Identify risks and proactively manage mitigation strategies.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of program managers and project leads across multiple initiatives.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide coaching, feedback, and career development support.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct formal evaluations with individualized development plans.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the program management team.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively, balancing workloads and aligning strengths with strategic priorities.
- Promote cross-functional communication and alignment between program teams and business units.
- Address team dynamics, resolve conflicts, and support employee engagement and well-being.
- Recognize and reward high performance to drive motivation and retention.
- Advocate for team needs and represent program management in leadership and strategic planning discussions.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and support career development.
- Allocate resources effectively across projects and adjust priorities as needed.

- Collaborate with HR on hiring, onboarding, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Champion a standard project management methodology with supporting processes and best practices
- Implement and refine Project Management Office frameworks and best practices.
- Monitor KPIs and report progress to executive leadership
- Advanced use of project management tools and dashboards
- Operate independently and provide strategic guidance for the project management office
- Up to 25% Travel to client sites
job Requirements/Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in program or project management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- 5+ years of experience in Utilities industry and 3 full lifecycle CIS or ERP implementations
- Proven success managing complex projects or programs in SaaS or tech environments.
- Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and other project management methodologies.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Highly organized and able to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
- Self-starter, able to work independently on own initiative and as part of a team
- Successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, managing people and implementing technology
- Have a strong customer focus
- Ability to learn quickly and provide value when placed in unfamiliar settings
- Ability to meet deadlines on aggressive schedules

Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certification preferred.
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
