POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this evening instructor role is to deliver high-quality instruction that fosters student learning and cultivates a positive educational environment. Students are prepared to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, humidifiers, and electrical and gas heating. Students also learn the fundamentals of electricity, electric motors, and controls. Graduates of the program will be able to install and braze refrigeration tubing, diagnose electrical problems, install duct systems, repair light commercial equipment, recover air conditioning and refrigeration refrigerants, and locate and repair leaks.

Pellissippi State’s noncredit lifelong learning program offers personal enrichment classes for the community with a wide range of topics, including: fitness, languages, musical instruments, arts and crafts, wellness, history, and more. Class participants are community members ages 18+. Some of the many benefits of teaching a lifelong learning class include working with engaged and enthusiastic adult learners and flexible class scheduling.
 Our noncredit class schedule is released twice a year: spring/summer and fall. Classes can be as short as 90 minutes or up to 20 hours in length. Instructors are expected to have a high level of expertise in the subject of their proposed class, and some experience in teaching or training others. Physical Demands / Working Conditions 
Environment: Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. The successful candidate will assist with the improvement of the 2-year Mechatronics program that is aligned with the industry needs. The Program Director’s duties will include recruiting of students into the program and teach a selection of classes. The program is designed to be both day and an evening/ weekend program. Appointment to this position may require some weekend or evening commitments. The Program Director will represent the program to internal and external constituencies and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the program. The Program Director will be based at Roane State’s Anderson County Higher Education Center, frequent off-campus travel is expected. 
Job Duties

<li>o Review, assess and improve the 2-year program in Mechatronics program.</li>
<li>o Teach at least two Mechatronics classes, as needed, which may include evenings and/or Saturdays.</li>
<li>o Select materials and instruments to be used in training and courses. Oversee purchase and proper handling.</li>
<li>o Develop recommendations for new equipment and training expenditures to support ongoing and developing program needs. Prepare justifications to be used in grant applications</li>
<li>o Conduct internal instructor training sessions for alignment of the Mechatronics program with similar programs at sister institutions.</li>
<li>o Coordinate scheduling of classes and staffing with faculty.</li>
<li>o Evaluate applications for faculty and recommend for hire.</li>
<li>o Observe adjunct faculty members' class/lab teaching.</li>
<li>o Conduct assessment of course and program learning outcomes, develop a major field exam and ensure programmatic accreditation with ATMAE standards.</li>

<li>o Publicize the program through presentations at community organizations such as Rotary and employer organizations such as ETEBA.</li>

• Teaching or training experience in Mechatronics related field. • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the Mechatronics field. • Experience in project/grant writing, management, and reporting. • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Physics, Engineering, Process Engineering or related discipline.
