We are seeking to build a pool of Adjunct Faculty/Substitute Instructors for our evening programs.&nbsp; If you have solid work experience and applicable skills in the field of Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning/Refrigeration Technology, we invite you to consider sharing your knowledge on a part-time basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;
SUMMARY
The evening Heating Ventilation Air-conditioning &amp; Refrigeration Instructor shall coordinate with the full-time program faculty and shall be directly responsible to the institution administration for effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. The instructor shall observe rules, policies, and regulations set forth by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Council of Occupational Education (COE); and shall strive to promote and elevate the mission and philosophy of occupational education within the areas served. They shall keep abreast of industry standards and techniques, reviewing periodicals and industry magazines commensurate to the course being taught.&nbsp; The instructor shall follow and maintain a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides to meet educational requirements and industry standards. They shall also oversee student conduct, motivation, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)</li>
<li>EPA section 608 Universal Certification required.</li>
<li>3+ years of approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license.</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field.</li>
<li>3+ years technical teaching experience.</li>
<li>5+ years industry related experience.</li>
<li>Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.</li>
<li>OSHA 10 certification.</li>
<li>EPA Certified</li>
<li>Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training preferred.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Ensure program aligns with all Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and Council of Occupational Education (COE) policy requirements.</li>
<li>Maintain knowledge of industry trends and technological advances in the industry.</li>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment that is conducive to all (COE) accreditation requirements.</li>
<li>Follow lesson plans, implement active learning activities to accommodate different learning styles, and teach industry skills and competencies commensurate to the course.</li>
<li>Utilize reliable formative and summative in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.</li>
<li>Follow grading criteria and utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.</li>
<li>Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.</li>
<li>Teach worker ethics curriculum, interpersonal skills, post-secondary workforce skills, and soft skills within the standard industry framework.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance and advice to students regarding program areas, course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and student services coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate with Technology Foundations Instructor to schedule student instruction times.</li>
<li>Promote program specific career technical student organizations to all students (SkillsUSA, Student Government Association (SGA), etc.)</li>
<li>Provide work -based learning opportunities to all students.</li>
<li>Coordinate student career guidance options with Career Services Coordinator.</li>
<li>Conduct follow-up on employment of graduates and maintain follow-up records on former students.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain inventory, control, and maintenance of all equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the department’s classroom and lab. Report loss or damage immediately.</li>
<li>Coordinate the need for equipment, tools, and supplies with the instructor and make recommendations for items needed for the program.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Perform student surveys each trimester.</li>
<li>Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily.</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings, as requested.</li>
<li>Work a maximum of 18 hours per week (non-exempt); additional hours must be approved in advance.</li>
<li>Other duties as defined by administration.</li>

SUMMARY
The Welding Technology Instructor shall be directly responsible to the institution administration for effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. The instructor shall observe rules, policies, and regulations set forth by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Council of Occupational Education (COE); and shall strive to promote and elevate the mission and philosophy of occupational education within the areas served. They shall keep abreast of industry standards and techniques by visiting industry partners, continuing education, and reviewing periodicals and industrial magazines commensurate to the course being taught.&nbsp; The instructor shall develop and maintain a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides to meet educational requirements and industry standards. They shall also oversee student conduct, motivation, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise. The instructor shall build and cultivate partnering relationships with schools, business, and industry partners to promote the ideals of occupational education and implement an effective placement program for students.&nbsp;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)</li>
<li>AWS Certification Level I or ability to complete it within 12 months of hire date.</li>
<li>5+ years approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.</li>
<li>3+ years SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC, and PAC experience using different materials.</li>
<li>3+ years fabrication and blueprint reading experience.</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Associate degree or diploma from an accredited technical training program in the related field.</li>
<li>AWS Certification Level III.</li>
<li>3+ years technical teaching experience.</li>
<li>5+ years industry related experience.</li>
<li>Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.</li>
<li>OSHA 10 certification.</li>
<li>Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training preferred.</li>
</ul>
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
<ul>
<li>Ability to demonstrate and explain SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, OFC and PAC in classroom and lab experiences.</li>
<li>Ability to instruct students on use of tools, layout information, and blueprint reading in fabrication.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the principles and practices of the industry and the ability to use the tools and equipment used in the occupation.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision as evidenced by a rating of education and experience.</li>
<li>Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other basic computer software and skills needed for the teaching profession.</li>
<li>Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and to move about the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation.</li>
<li>Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Ensure program aligns with all Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and Council of Occupational Education (COE) policy requirements.</li>
<li>Maintain knowledge of industry trends and technology advances in the industry.</li>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment that is conducive to all (COE) accreditation requirements.</li>
<li>Evaluate and select textbooks and reference materials, prepare curriculum, develop lesson plans, implement active learning activities to accommodate different learning styles, and teach industry skills and competencies commensurate to the course.</li>
<li>Prepare and/or select and utilize reliable formative and summative in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.</li>
<li>Establish grading criteria and utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.</li>
<li>Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.</li>
<li>Teach worker ethics curriculum, interpersonal skills, post-secondary workforce skills, and soft skills within the standard industry framework.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance and advice to students regarding program areas, course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and student services coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate with Technology Foundations Instructor to schedule student instruction times.</li>
<li>Promote program specific career technical student organizations to all students (SkillsUSA, Student Government Association (SGA), etc.)</li>
<li>Coordinate with the Recruiter to present program information and promote enrollment opportunities to traditional and non-traditional students and the community.</li>
<li>Meet and collaborate with industry partners on technological advances related to program and occupation.</li>
<li>Establish a high quality, active Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) per COE guidance and perform no less than two (2) OAC meetings per academic year.</li>
<li>Provide work-based learning opportunities to all students</li>
<li>Conduct follow-up on employment of graduates and maintain follow-up records on former students.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain inventory, control, maintenance and light repair of all equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the department’s classroom and lab. Report loss or damage immediately.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain program budget to coordinate the need for equipment, tools, and supplies; make recommendations for and submit Purchase Orders for items needed for the program.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.</li>
<li>Participate in in-service training, workshops, and other programs which provide professional growth.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily (minimum).</li>
<li>Attend all required staff meetings.</li>
<li>Coordinate annual leave to coincide with student breaks.</li>
<li>Work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week (exempt); additional hours may be required, to fulfill duties of the position and needs of the institution.</li>

SALARY RANGE: $50,142 - $60,171 annually, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
